Is it Texas-USC in the 2006 Rose Bowl? Oklahoma-Boise State in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl? Ohio-State-Miami in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl? There have been some great BCS bowl games so far, but find out which were the best 10 over the past 10 years.Read the rest of the story here by Chris Low and see what you think. ( )Here's some games that were left out that I thought were also memorable for one reason or another.1999 Fiesta Bowl: Tennessee 23, Florida State 16Tee Martin and Peerless Price lead the Vols over the Seminoles in the National Championship game. Florida State was without Chris Weinke at QB but still found a way to make it come down to an onsides kick at the end.2001 Fiesta Bowl: Oregon State 41, Notre Dame 9You might be thinking why a blowout is considered a great game. Well, Oregon State surprised everyone by making it there, then shocked everyone by completely dominating the Irish. The Beavers also had a couple of receivers you might have heard of leading the way, TJ Houshmenzadah and Chad Johnson.2002 Rose Bowl: Miami 37, Nebraska 14This game was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Nebraska had no business even being in the game after not even winning their own conference.
The Hurricanes should have been playing Oregon and Joey Harrington. Miami took care of business with a roster of countless NFL players including Ken Dorsey, Jeremy Shockey, Andre Johnson, Clinton Portis, Vince Wilfork, Jonathan Vilma, Ed Reed, just to name a few.2005 Sugar Bowl: Auburn 16, Virginia Tech 13In the most controversial year of the BCS, Auburn was denied a chance to play in the BCS Championship game and went onto to go 13-0 with the win over the Hokies. This season is what really sparked the BCS debate to a new level and it is still the season people point to when trying to destroy the credibility of the BCS.. SENOMYX, INC. I watched a great basketball game this weekend. It was a close battle and was not decided until the final seconds. No, I am not talking about the Cavs vs the Celtics game but the Phoenix Mercury vs. the Los Angeles Sparks instead. The WNBA contest this weekend between the Sparks and the Mercury was more exciting than the NBA playoff game yesterday.
There was more scoring and more excitement.Candace Parker, the rookie from the Sparks, is the Kobe Bryant of the WNBA She can do it all and is already a superstar. In her first professional game, she almost had a triple-double Parker had 34 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. She was simply amazing. The only weakness Parker seems to have is free-throw shooting. She shot 8-15 from the line and needs to work on that area of her game. She is as comfortable shooting the three-pointer as she is dribbling the ball up the court and dishing to a teammate for an open jumper. The Sparks were up 51-42 at halftime, but the Mercury came back and outscored them 30-22 in the third quarter. Parker made some clutch shots at the end of the game to seal the victory.
The final score was 99-94 in favor of the Sparks.Other stars that I enjoyed watching were Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter of the Mercury. Pondexter had 32 points and Taurasi had 24.The Mercury like to run up and down and shoot as quickly as possible just like the Suns. This makes for entertaining basketball.Overall, this was a very enjoyable game to watch Parker is the next big thing in sports. The media doesn't cover WNBA much and the public does not really know about these talented female athletes. Hopefully stars like Pondexter and Parker will be more widely noticed and seen in the next few years.I know I will be tuning in the next time I get a chance to watch a WNBA game. .
